NY & VT Trip Day #5
Wednesday, May 9, 2024
Today, my Aunt Joan and Uncle Mike from Burlington went with us on a day trip to Stowe, VT. We started our day at the Cold Hollow Cider Mill in Waterbury Center. Then, it was on to Stowe Mountain to look at the ski runs, which are impressive even without snow.
The clouds made for some interesting shadows on the mountains.
The lodge at Spruce Peak is absolutely amazing.
This pond nestled in the mountains with the peaks beyond really displays the natural beauty of the area.
Nothing says New England as much as these quaint old churches. It seems every town had its own photo-worthy church. This one is located in downtown Stowe.
We then visited the Trapp Family Lodge. The musical The Sound of Music was based upon the Trapp Family.
The view of the surrounding mountains from the Trapp Family Lodge grounds.
After lunch at The Backyard in Stowe, it was off to get desert from Ben & Jerry’s, a Vermont tradition of amazing ice cream.
Lisa loved that anywhere you go at Ben & Jerry’s you will see cows.
More of the cow theme.
A trip to the Waterbury Ben & Jerry’s Factory would not be complete without a visit to pay your respects at the Flavor Graveyard.
Each of the retired flavors gets its own headstone and inscription. Nothing is more classing than Schweddy Balls!
