The visitor’s center at Lime Creek Nature Center in Mason City, Iowa. Great trails are well maintained and they have a web-based interpretive program that explains the flora and fauna seen along the trails.

Meet “Mindy” the Wood Turtle sculpture located in front of the Lime Creek Nature Center. She is modeled after a Wood Turtle spotted at the Lime Creek Conservation Area in 2017. The Wood Turtle in an endangered species in Iowa.

“Ruins of the old Mason City Brewery; built in 1873 and used as a brewery until 1882 when a prohibition amendment was added to the Iowa Constitution. Afterward, the building was used as a slaughterhouse, ice house, home, barn, and office. All that remains intact is the brewery cellar.” From an interpretive plaque on site.
