Looking on the internet it appears this cruise company is called American Queen Voyages. There is a similar outfit called American Cruise Lines which also does Mississippi River cruises. The American Queen appears much more reasonably priced, but we have not done any research to truly compare what each one offers.

Red Wing Grain.

“Red Wing Grain loads corn and soybeans onto barges from local farmers within a 75-mile radius of Red Wing. A river towboat will gather up to 15 barges and then head south on the Mississippi River to the Gulf of Mexico.

The grain on these barges will be loaded onto large vessels destined for Taiwan, Korea, Japan, China, Africa, and South America. The corn and soybeans are used mainly for feed for livestock.

1 Semi-Truck = 1,000 Bushels.

1 Barge - 55 Semi-Trucks or 55,000 Bushels.

Red Wing Grain loads approximately 450-600 barges from April to November every year.”
