South Dakota 2022 - Day #4
Wednesday, October 12, 2022
Day #4 started with a long and rather difficult out-and-back hike along the Horsethief Lake trail. These are some of the views from the trail.
The trails are very well maintained. The downed trees are kept clear of the path.
The fall colors in the aspen trees and bushes made for a pleasant hike.
Back at Horsethief Lake with the pedestrian bridge in the distance. Such a peaceful place to visit.
Next, we visited the Pactola Reservoir.
Driving through Spearfish Canyon we came across this gentleman fly fishing in Spearfish Creek. He hooked one while we watched, but he wasn’t able to land it before it jumped off his line.
A couple of images of Spearfish Creek.
This trail connects the Old Spearfish Creek Dam - where the gentleman was fishing - to the Roughlock Falls Trail. We appreciated the way the scene frames the home on the hill in the distance.
