In 1871 this Irvine Park cave located in Chippewa Falls, WI, was purchased by F.X. Schmitmayer, the owner of Schmitmayer’s Brewery. He installed an iron gate at the entrance and used the cool cave to store beer from his brewery.

For those that don’t care to walk/hike in Irvine Park, there is a drive around Irvine Park Zoo and the surrounding park area.

Sunny Valley School was originally named the Goethel School. It was built in 1903 and classes began in January of 1904. The teacher was paid $35 per month and was responsible for teaching 8 grades, as well as keeping the school clean and heated with a wood burning box stove. There were no paved roads in the area and many of the children walked over 2 miles one way each morning and afternoon.

This pioneer Norwegian log home was constructed out of hand-hewn White Pine logs by Ole Pederson Bjerke in about 1881. Ole and his wife Mari and raised three sons in this modest building. Ole and Mari lived here until their deaths in 1905 and 1908.
